Barry M. Gregory Ed.D., M.Ed., BA is a life and recovery coach specializing in CBT-informed mindset and motivational coaching, helping people get the tools they need to support the life they want. He is trained in evidence-based practices like motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral approaches, and has trained over 10,000 licensed mental health, addiction, and criminal justice professionals and psychologists in these best practices, including trauma-informed care in organizations.


From 2003 until 2016, he worked as a State of Florida-licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) serving as a therapist, clinical director, and consultant at multiple licensed addiction treatment centers. His mission has always been to help individuals, parents, and families facing life's toughest challenges using a non-judgmental and compassionate approach.


His academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling (M.Ed) and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D). To advance his coaching credentials, he completed certificate training courses in both life and wellness coaching. Throughout his career, he has served as the Assistant Director of a University Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention and Research Center, an Adjunct Professor teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in leadership, education, and counseling, and a mobile assessor on a $100 million Federal Access to Recovery Grant (ATR) serving individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders.


He is the best-selling author of several widely used CBT-based workbooks, including CBT Skills Workbook, The College Alcohol and Life Skills Workbook, Cultivating a Healthy and Balanced Lifestyle: A Motivational Approach to Health and Wellness That Works, and The CBT and Reentry Skills Workbook. These workbooks are great for people wanting to learn more about practical CBT and MI tools they need to make sustainable changes and improvements in life. He values lifelong learning and embraces the use of AI in his coaching practice and shares this passion and these resources with his clients.


A person in long-term recovery himself, Dr. Barry knows firsthand what it's like to overcome challenges in his life and shares this lived experience and compassion with others. He combines his academic credentials, professional exeriences and lived experience to help individuals and professionals create meaningful, lasting change through evidence-based and motivational mindset training, consulting, and coaching approaches.
